The lazy days of summer are quickly passing by, but there are still many events and activities to enjoy in the Eagle River Valley Corridor. 


Following is a listing of the free summer concerts coming up in Hancock, NY:


8/5 Gimme Four with Special Guests for the Times (50's & 60's music) 7 - 9 pm

8/6 Arts in the Park - juried art show 10 am - 4 pm

      The Incredible Judy Garland - her life and songs performance 7:30 -  9 pm

8/19 ArcheDream for Humankind 8 - 9:30 pm - the merging of ancient myths with magical stories including puppetry, mask theatre, music and blacklights for an unforgettable experience for all ages.

9/2 Moaning Frogs

8/6 - 8/7 Annual Quarry Run with 100 miles of trails

8/7 - 8/14 Fly Fishing Camp for ages 12 - 17

Windsor's Family Fun Day at Klumpp Park is fast approaching and will kick off at 10 am on August 6th with our First Annual 5K Run/Walk with prizes in several categories.  Register at or between 9 and 10 am at the event on race day.  Bring a canned or boxed food item to donate to Human Development and bring the kids for carnival games, relays, and an up close and personal visit with our animal friends from Animal Adventure starting at 11 am.  Our local fire department promises you won't leave hungry if you pre-order their delicious Chicken BBQ dinner by calling Craig at 607-222-5470.

Be sure to rent a duck for $5 or improve your chances with 5 for $20 for the exciting grand finale duck race down the creek and win cash prizes if you're the "Lucky Duck".  Winner need not be present and you can get your ducks now by calling Bev at 607-655-1172 or Elaine at 607-655-3399.


You can enjoy a relaxing and tasty evening at our Windsor Band Concerts on our Village Green at 6 pm every Friday throughout the summer. The concerts are free of charge and desserts are available at a nominal cost during the concerts. Bring your own lawn chairs or blanket.


Deposit just completed their 40th annual Lumberjack Festival, but be sure to put it on your calendar to join us next year for a full weekend of family fun and local competitions.

Eagle River Valley Daffodils



Spring has sprung in the Eagle River Valley Corridor, snow drops and crocuses are in full bloom and the birds are singing.  Our corridor abounds with wildlife and has one of the largest habitats for eagles.  The bald eagle was brought back from near extinction due to the active preservation of their local habitat.  It is exciting to learn that the Delaware-Otsego Audubon Society with assistance of the New York State DEC has trapped four golden eagles and fitted them with tracking devices to study their habits in an effort to prevent their extinction as well.  If you have never seen a golden eagle, you can view photos online at

Are you a runner?  Why not join the Deposit 5K Trout Run on April 30th starting at 10 am.  Does this sound a “little fishy”, no worries, just get more information, visit:

If you're not a runner, how about a family-friendly, exhilarating motorcycle ride?  Check out the Good Kuggamugga Trail Ride taking place May 16th and 17th.  Trails are available for all skill levels including a kids loop.  Details at:

Jada Hill Farms is once again participating with the Broome County Farm Trail and they invite any and all to visit their goat farm for hands-on learning May 14th and 15th.  Their hand-crafted items make wonderful gifts or just enjoy them yourself.  View their website: or give them a call at 607-467-5742.

Hancock is gearing up for their "Summer Nights LIVE on the Square" - a series of award-winning artists from throughout the country offering performances including classical, jazz, doo wop, Celtic, modern dance and more. Best of all, the performances are free of charge.  The season kicks off on Sunday, May 29th with a community wide yard sale and live performance by The American Rogues. Not the outdoor type, but need some wonderful repose?  Why not visit the Whip Works Art Center at 98 Main Street in Windsor. Some up-coming highlights include April 9 – May 14 Works of Daniel Mosner, May 28 – July 9 Printmaking exhibit featuring the works of Minna Resnick and Alexandra Davis and her students.  Some of the up-coming classes that Whip Works is hoping to offer are:  Plein Air Landscape Painting, Ceramic Sculpture and Pottery, Basket Weaving, Watercolor and Pastel Workshops.  For a schedule of events, visit their website: and sign up for membership or stay in the loop with their newsletter.
