Community Yard Sale
and Picnic in the Square!

Saturday, May 23
Sunday, May 24
Monday, May 25

Come help Hancock kick off the season with a multitude of festivities for the whole family!

There will be a community-wide yard sale Saturday and Sunday — May 23 & 24 — with maps available to show the way to each sale… many within walking distance. The maps will also point the way to specials at local eateries and businesses, storefront art exhibits, an interpretive walk along our new nature trail, special exhibits at the Hancock-Chehocton Historical Society, and more!

On Sunday, meet us at the Town Square after church (or after sleeping in!) around 12 noon for a moment of remembrance for the men and women who sacrificed all they had for our freedoms, and then celebrate their memory with a good old fashioned “Picnic In The Square” with everyone’s favorite chicken BBQ, refreshments, live music, old-fashioned games for kids and adults, and a huge dose of Community Spirit!

So bring your blankets, bring your lawn chairs, and bring your excitement and enthusiasm as we welcome (finally!) the warm weather, blue skies, and the beginning of an exciting season at The Gateway to the Upper Delaware. Everyone is welcome!

Friends of the Upper Delaware River's 8th Annual One Bug fundraiser

Weekend of May 1, 2 & 3!

One Bug is a fly fishing competition with two-person teams - two days of guided fishing on the truly magnificent Upper Delaware River, to include the East, West, and Main stem.

The weekend is modeled after the Jackson Hole, WY One Fly contest; each competitor is allowed one fly (bug) per day.  If they lose it, they can still fish, but can't score anything that is caught (and of course released).

Each year our event grows in size - we had 22 teams entered this year, including teams representing the Orvis Company, Patagonia, and National Trout Unlimited.

A kick-off party got things started on Friday night, May 1, at the Hancock Fireman's Park.  This was open to the public, and there were raffles, door prizes, and silent and live auctions.  All the money we raised goes back into the community and into our river protection projects.
